Join Malay local Osman 'Ossie' Macrae on guided buggy tours and enjoy a relaxed, informative and fun tour of Home Island. Ozzie will guide you to historical and cultural sites, as well as sharing expert knowledge of the art of coconut husking, basket weaving and methods of coconut oil production. A choice between a lunch or dinner tour offers a chance to meet local artisans and enjoy a delicious meal with dessert and refreshments. Advanced group bookings recommended, minimum numbers apply.
Coconut Farm, Clams and Art Tours
Enjoy an entertaining, interactive and action packed morning behind the scenes with passionate locals. The tour includes accommodation pickup and drop off, morning tea and guided tours of Cocos Tropical Farm, Cocos Clam Farm and the Big Barge Art Centre. The tour runs Monday and Friday from 9am - 12pm. After the tour and by prior arrangement you can also arrange to be dropped at Trannies Beach for a swim and lunch. This tour is starting July 2013.
The unique barge art gallery showcases a collection of original local artworks for sale, including paintings, photo canvases, textiles, carvings and jewellery. If you feel like being creative, workshops and art courses are run from the inspiring working artists' studio all year round.
