Zephyr Tours - Kiteboard Lessons

Kiteboarding is the fastest growing water sports in the world, and the Cocos Islands is one of the best kiting locations in Australia. Where better to learn to kiteboard? Our instructors are IKO qualified and therefore our teaching methods are safe, efficient and progressive.

Lesson 1 - Discovery (2 hours): The first lesson includes the theory of kiteboarding, the basics of setup, safety, launching/landing a kite, water recovery and flying a 5 line inflatable kite. You will be in the water with the kite for an hour during this lesson. Maximum 2 persons.

Lesson 2 - Intermediate (2 hours): You are now ready to use the kite to propel yourself through the water; the most fun you can have till you put the board on. We will teach you how to body drag downwind, crosswind and upwind - an important skill to learn to retrieve your lost board. Finally finish it off with how to do an emergency pack down in deep water. Maximum 2 persons.

Lesson 3 - Independent (2 hours): By now, most people are ready for the board. In this lesson we will teach you specific skills for getting up on the board, safety and in control. Once you're getting the hang of that, we'll teach you edging techniques and how to ride upwind. maximum 2 persons.

Full Beginner Package (8 hours): This course includes the 2 hour lessons and 2 hour Revision Lesson over two or three days (depending on tides and winds). Maximum 2 persons.

Revision Lesson (1 hour): An one hour lesson designed for those people who have completed a full beginner course but forgotten some of the basic skills. This lesson includes a kite, bar and lines, harness and twin tip kiteboard.
